Plant City Protest

Over a 100 immigrants protested during the Florida Strawberry Festival. The cause was HR 4437.

Gonzalez and her sister, Sylvia Torres, organized the protest two weeks ago, christening their group Immigrants United for Freedom. Both say they were born in the United States and have lived in the Plant City area for more than 25 years.

They say they are speaking for those whose status is less secure. "We're going to be their voice," Gonzalez said.

"We need to stop this law," added Torres, who began picking berries, oranges and tomatoes with her family at age 7. After 20 years in the fields, she now owns an auto repair business.

The resolution is a piece of work. This is your tax dollars at work.

An amendment numbered 4 printed in Part B of House Report 109-347 to state that all uniforms procured for use by Border Patrol agents are to be made in the United States.

Tommy Brock, president of the Florida Strawberry Growers Association, asked where is the Social Security tax going from bogus SS cards. The answer is into Social Security. Most of these immigrants will never collect. Farmers still haven't increased wages after a shortage of migrant workers from increased border security. The arguments of immagrants taken jobs and hurting Social Security is BS.
