Lead researcher, P. Nichols, explains, "Less intelligent animals rely on instinct when confronted by something which they do not understand. This is an ancient survival reaction all animals, including humans, exhibit. It's a simple phenomenon, really; think about a dog being afraid of a vacuum cleaner. He doesn't know what a vacuum is or if it may harm him, so he becomes agitated and barks at it. Less intelligent humans do the same thing. Concepts that are too complex for them to understand, may frighten or anger them."Dear reader, you realize that Mr. Nichols compared Fox News viewers to a dog that doesn't know what a vacuum cleaner is. This reads like an article by The Onion. I remember interviewing people at the Republican National Convention. Hardcore Republicans couldn't explain policy. (I did have a good talk with a local Republican, who didn't want to be interviewed on-camera, about the problems with developing downtown Tampa.) These Republicans would just say Obama is a socialist or they wanted economic freedom. Republicans understand policy through buzz words. Update: the reason the study reads like an Onion article is because it is a hoax.

Study Shows Fox News Viewers Have Lower IQ
A study conducted by the Intelligence Institute shows that Fox News viewers have a lower IQ than the average person. The study found that Fox News viwers scored an 80 IQ average. The national average is 100. The test cases were measured for cognitive aptitude, common sense and other features.
The Fox News viewers were found to be somewhat frightened of images of President Obama and a tarantula. Researcher P. Nichols explains their reaction.
