Clearwater Man Arrested With Several Guns

In Clearwater, Song T Uong was arrested after assaulting a parking enforcement officer. Yong was angered because he got a parking ticket.

Uong was enraged when he saw the ticket, and at the same time saw parking officer Norton McGiffin IV in a truck driving by. Police say Uong took his 2001 Lexus, blocked McGiffin's path, and then got out and tried to pull McGiffin from his vehicle.

Police found a small arsenal in Uong's car.

A Sig Sauer 556 assault rifle with eight high-capacity magazines and law enforcement/military EOTech with night vision sight-mountable bi-pod and light A Sig Sauer P238 380-caliber handgun with three magazines Glock 27 40-caliber combat handgun with eight high-capacity magazines 188 rounds of .556/.223 rifle ammunition 142 rounds of .40 auto pistol ammunition 18 rounds of .380 auto pistol ammunition.

Yong had a loaded gun in his pants when he attacked McGiffin. Hong told McGiffin, "Someone's going to die today."

Don't you feel safer knowing that people like Yong can easily get a gun.

SaintPetersblog: this time more immediate and impassioned than after other recent shooting sprees — for increased gun control.)

(Andrew Sullivan Reader Three days ago: Guns don't kill people - people do. By the same token, planes don't kill people - people flying them into buildings do. And yet, I recall that we immediately and decisively worked to keep deranged people from gaining possession of planes when a handful of those people used them as tools of mass murder; indeed, we made it much more difficult for the overwhelming majority of peaceful, law-abiding citizens to board a plane. SaintPetersblog: Gun rights advocates will argue that guns don’t kill people – people do. By the same token, planes don’t kill people – people flying them into buildings do. And yet the government immediately and decisively worked to keep deranged people from gaining possession of planes when a handful of those people used them as tools of mass murder; indeed, we made it much more difficult for the overwhelming majority of peaceful, law-abiding citizens to board a plane.)

Credit was given to the Miami Herald's Marc Caputo instead of Andrew Sullivan. I apologize.
