I'm a Red Sox fan living a few miles south of Boston, so I'm you're worst nightmare. ;> I saw this photo on espn.com/mlb front page today and thought "Why? Do people really care about two aging outfielders who might 30 homers combined?"
Fox Sports MLB today leads with an article about Bryce Harper, an upcoming player people actually give a crap about. Pretty good read.
Crawford is a good hitter with some pop, who happens to excel in the base paths -- and became the kind of player that gives catchers fits and just creates runs. Crawford will make the Sox batting after him better because catchers -- fearing Crawford will steal bases -- will call pitches which give them a chance to toss the ball to second. So Sox batters will less offspeed stuff and sliders in the dirt; they will see more fastballs. It's going to be get seeing Adrian Gonzales cream those fastballs over the wall.
Upton does have the speed to steal, but... Nobody in the AL East is really afraid of him. He never placed fear in catchers and pitchers the way Crawford does. Crawford is one of those players that can swipe any base at any time. I don't see Upton becoming that type of player.

"Imported has-beens..." What's the matter with you? You a Yankees fan? Or worse... Red Sox?
I laughed out loud when I read that, by the way.
The Tampa Bay Injured Reserve Show.

I read a Tampa sportswriter blab about how BJ Upton is going to fill Carl Crawford's role. I swear the sportswriters in Tampa smoke crack.

Nobody outside of Tampa sees Upton becoming as good as Crawford. Period.
