Alex Sink's Email To Supporters

Alex Sink sent this email to supporters announcing her concession.

Dear Friend,

I wanted you to hear from me that my team has analyzed the situation statewide, and concluded that -- while this is one of the closest gubernatorial elections in Florida history -- there is no path to victory.

It’s been an honor and a privilege to humbly serve the people of Florida. And I have been both honored and humbled by the support I received from you in this campaign for governor.

What we’ve accomplished together is truly remarkable: supporters like you made 70,000 contributions to this campaign, and volunteers made more than 1,000,000 calls to turn out voters.

We fought incredibly hard. And I drew strength every day from having support from you and so many Floridians in every one of Florida’s 67 counties.

So many people who love our state and care deeply about our future gave their time, their sweat, their talents, and their hearts to this campaign. And words fall short of expressing my gratitude for everything you’ve done.

When I called Rick Scott to congratulate him, I told him that, especially after such a close election, he will need to work hard to bring our state together. That means being a governor for every Floridian -- including the two-and-a-half million Floridians who didn’t vote for him.

Here is my perspective:

I’ve lived long enough to see lots of good times, and to endure many difficult ones too.

And you know what? I’ve learned that even in difficult times, the sun always rises the next morning.

And look outside this morning -- it’s a beautiful Florida day.

Thank you,

Alex Sink

Sink ran a good campaign. Looking back her lack of boldness hurt her. Sink pandered to conservatives who would never support her by coming out against the Cordoba House/Park 51 project. Sink also backed the Bush tax cuts. Democrats like Sink refuse to take heed of Harry Truman's message.

Given the choice between a Republican and someone who acts like a Republican. People will vote for the real Republican all the time."

No one expected Sink to be the second coming of Paul Wellstone. Sink had to provide a stark contrast from her opponent Rick Scott. Sink gave voters plenty of reasons to vote against Scott. Sink failed to provide a reason for voters to support her.
