Thought of the Day

When Jane Hamsher and other progressives complain health care reform was too tailored towards the health care industry the Obama administration ignored them. When Andrew Breitbart attacked Shirley Sherrod the Obama administration fired her out of fear of angering Glenn Beck. That tells you all you need to know about who President Barack Obama believes is his base.

  1. Why does it have to either be "progressives" OR Glenn Beck? Why can't he believe his base to be middle-of-the-road Americans? Why can't he have tried to fashion a piece of legislation that was politically smart along with being historic and worthy? Why can't he (and, actually, the Sec. of Ag.) have made a mistake in firing Sherrod for fear of looking to be soft of what he (again, mistakenly) thought was basically a crazy person.

Michael, I realize that every word of that drips with snark, but I swear to you, I did not mean it that way. Those are the questions I've been wanting to inject into this debate somewhere, sometime. I was just looking for a place to do so. Sorry it had to be your blog. But I really do want to know.

  2. The health care bill doesn't control longterm costs. The next Republican administration will allow health insurance companies to raise rates at will.
