Sink To Buy Ad Time

The Alex Sink campaign will sometime in the near future start buying television ad time.

Sink spokeswoman Kyra Jennings was a bit less than forthcoming, although she didn’t bat it down outright: “Our television ads will begin very soon,” she said, ”and Floridians will hear directly from Alex Sink about her positive commitment to strengthening Florida’s economy, creating jobs and holding politicians accountable.”

There is no reason for Sink to air ads until after the primary. Bill McCollum and Rick Scott are doing a great job of destroying each other in the Republican primary. Sink needs to fundraise, work the base, and let voters get to know her.

Really? I dunno. Because it seems to me she doesn't want to fall into a sort of Meek-type trap, where McCollum and Scott steal all the oxygen -- along with Chiles, for that matter -- and she's left scrambling in September. Why wouldn't she start now while McCollum and Scott are trying to out-crazy each other? You said yourself they're doing a great job of destroying each other... but one of them will win in a week or two.

Wait, how else is she supposed to let voters get to know her? She can do a bus tour, I guess. But the voters are going to get to know her through ads. I assume she's not going to go (again, sort of) Meek-style and hit negative right out of the box.

    Maybe I'm wrong...

  2. If Scott is the GOP nominee she may want to save money.

Meek is in the position he is in because he is a lousy candidate with a horrible campaign manager and netroots outreach.
