Florida Republican gubernatorial candidate Rick Scott tells conservative voters his medical company Columbia/HCA did nothing wrong. The mean federal government picked on Columbia/HCA for being innovative.
Fact: Columbia/HCA was fined $1.7 billion. Columbia/HCA pleaded guilty to to 14 counts of felonies.
Fact: the FBI used several whistleblowers to make their case against Columbia/HCA. One whistleblower, John Schilling said Scott had to know about the illegal Medicaid billing.
"He's pulling the wool over people's eyes if he says that he wasn't aware of this and he would have fired anybody if he would have fired anybody if he would have been aware of it. I think it's a bunch of malarkey," Schilling said.
Scott was forced to step down from Columbia/HCA. A major medical company is not going to pay $1.7 billion and Scott would not have stepped down if Columbia/HCA was operating within the bounds of the law.
