Kendrick Meek Death Watch Continues

Reporter Michael Mayo covered Kendrick Meek on the campaign trail. Mayo was shocked by how lackadaisical Meek the campaigner is.

He gave a 10-minute speech to a group of seniors, and I was a little surprised by his approach.

He didn't mention any of his opponents by name - not Greene or Gov. Crist, who recently broke from the Republicans to run as a no-party candidate and who could siphon support from Democratsin the Nov. 2 general election.

Instead, Meek spoke about his background as a state trooper and talked about how he protect Social Security and Medicare.

Maybe it's early, but I was expecting a more head-on approach, something critizing Greene as a Carpetbagger and Crist as a opportunist. Meek seemed languid, not exactly charismatic and almost too comfortable.

Greene's vanity campaign is taking support away from Meek. The current TPM Poll Tracker has Crist at 32.9 percent and Marco Rubio at 32.7 percent. Meek is a distant third at 15.9 percent. Meek is campaigning like he has a 20 point lead. Someone on Meek's staff needs to tell him he is losing. My God, Bill McBride ran a better campaign against Jeb Bush and I am not saying that as a compliment.
