Doug Tudor Attacks Debbie Wasserman-Schultz

I have repeatedly said Doug Tuder can not win Florida District 12. Appparently, Debbie Wasserman-Schultz sent out a mass e-mail asking Democrats to support Tudor's primary opponent Lori Edwards. The Tudor campaign found out about the e-mail and is using it for fundraising purposes. I doubt it will do much good. According to OpenSecrets.org, Tudor has only raised $34,274.

Tudor has alienated the Democratic establishment. I have had my own misgivings with the establishment. I am also not running for Congress. Tudor needed the establishment for fundraising and endorsements. Instead, he operated his campaign without communicating with the DCCC and Florida Democratic Party. Tudor shouldn't act shocked that Wasserman-Schultz is supporting Edwards.

From Tudor's e-mail:

Over the next several days, I am going to send you a few more notes outlining why Debbie, who is in a safe D+13 district, is supporting a Conservative. Trust me, it is not the first time she has backed candidates that are opposed to the hope and change for which we worked so hard for in 2008. With your $20.00 contribution, we can send a clear message that it should be her last.

Man, this guy is vindictive. Tudor is obsessed with a Democrat representative from another district. That is much like Tudor's weird attack on Randy Edwards; a unknown candidate who withdrew from the race before he even really started. I don't want a person with Tudor's temperment anywhere near public office.

Another point is what hope and change did Tudor create in 2008? Tudor lost the District 12 general election to Adam Putnam by 16.8 percent. Tudor didn't help Barack Obama win Florida. So I really like to know how he is creating hope and change by attacking every Democrat he feels that dissed him?

Update: At the time of this post; Doug Tudor's ActBlue site has raised $170.00. That isn't going to cut it.

  1. Spoken like a true DCCC drone, I must say. Did you know that Debbie Whatshername not only "dissed" Tudor in 2008, but refused to support his candidacy at all then as part of Red-to-Blue? Why? Gee, maybe she doesn't want a real progressive in the seat. She almost certainly doesn't want someone they can't control, and I doubt Tudor would play their game with Debbie's "Dem-lite" representation that talks reeeeal big about things progressives value but never actually steps up to challenge the corporate powers that pull the strings.

Losing to Putnam by only 17 points in FL-12 is like a high school football team only losing by a touchdown to an NFL franchise.

It's not that Tudor isn't communicating with the DCCC - they are ignoring him in favor of a "safe" Blue Dog they know will toe their line. If Edwards is sooooo courageous, why did she not run against Putnam when we needed her in the depths of the Bush regime? No, she waits until the big ginger dog has had his fill, then sidles up to the bowl herself, Blue Dog that she is.

There's a reason to call them Blue Dogs, you know. They're ever-loyal to their masters with the leash... and the Benjamins.

I'll take the guy with the bold platform of real progressive values and the no-nonsense "do the right thing no matter what" attitude. That's Tudor. He may lose, but he won't say just anything to get elected or stay in the party's good graces. Edwards? After seeing her speak I'm convinced that she'll say anything at all... but probably will do very little.

Maybe Debbie just wants a canasta partner. I want a real representative. She's not it.

  2. I know for a fact that Tudor didn't communicate with the DCCC before his attack on Randy Edwards. The Tudor camopaign has outright hostility towards the DCCC and Florida Democratic Party. And they wonder why the establishment doesn't support them.

  3. Do you know what Wasserman said to Tudor when he approached her for help in 2008? She dismissed him for not having enough cash on hand. When he said he was a "real people's candidate", she said, "Don't pull that populist stuff with me!"

In short, the DCCC wants candidates they know will be beholden to and controlled by party leadership. I don't think Tudor fits that mold, and I believe that's a good thing.

Lori Edwards could've stepped up against Putnam in 2002,2004 or 2006. Instead she chose to wait it out. That's courageous leadership? That's the "people before party" thing we want? I don't think so, so I'm supporting Tudor in the primary and against Ross, who's got his own issues dealing with Wilkinson's crew.

  4. Tudor didn't have enough cash. Wasserman-Schultz was right. Tudor lost. If the Tudor supporters thinks their candidate is going to win by attacking a cancer survivor then go right ahead. I am not implying that Tudor attacked Wasserman-Schultz on breast cancer. I do want to make clear that a lot of people like Wasserman-Schultz because of what she went through. Tudor has not earned that kind of good will. Picking pointless fights with Democrats he isn't running against just makes him come off as petty.

  5. Name one candidate in recent memory who did win with only grassroots-raised cash. Party money would've done the trick. "Attacking a cancer survivor"? LOL If you're "not implying" anything, why do you have to imply something to not imply it?

  6. Do you actually think you are convining me that a candidate who lost in 2008 is suddenly going to get to Congress. The Tudorheads seem to do a better job of leaving blog comments than forming a grassroots coalition. Your guy is going to lose the primary and his attacks against other Democrats makes him come off as a douchebag. The end.

  7. Convince you? No, your mind's made up. Stratified. And you'll vote the party line, no doubt, because... well, because such seems to suit you.

But can you name one candidate in recent history who won without any party support, excluding the shenanigans in SC's Dem primary?

Lori's just another Blue Dog who wants her turn to toe the party line and Not Make Waves. She's not so different from the R's, unfortunately. She's just different enough that I wouldn't stay home if she wins the primary, but she's... same-old. We don't need Blue Dogs - we need progressives with balls, which Tudor has. In spades.

  8. I have read this weak blog just a couple of times and it is pretty clear to me that even with your limited outreach you feel the need to attack a progressive candidate like Doug Tudor simply because you fear the direction of his campaign. A campaign that is building momentum by the minute. The Tudor camp should thank you, I am going to open my wallet a little wider tonight thanks to you and the other republicans of the democratic party.

  9. because you fear the direction of his campaign.

Yes, I fear a candidate who is going to lose the primary. How did you know.

  10. Several things, the Tudor campaign does communicate with the DCCC, the DCCC does not support Doug because they would much rather have Lori Edwards in office, someone they can really control, someone who in my mind needs to hold a press conference and pronounce that she has switched parties, in fact if elected in would not surprise me in the least. Clearly you’re close minded and on a very short leash so you and Lori would probably get along great although you would never know because she has done nothing to campaign except collect money, Lori thinks that DC12 congressional primary is in the bag. NEWS FLASH, IM ON THE GROUND TALKING TO PEOPLE EVERY DAY, WORKING AND THE PEOPLE WHICH IS WHO COUNT IN THIS ELECTION NOT THE SUPPORT OF DWS OR DCCC ARE ALL TO ANXIOUS TO HAVE SOMEONE LIKE THEM WHO IS NOT AFFRAID TO TAKE A STAND NO MATTER WHAT. Its people like you that make me get up every day and do what I do for Doug, I can’t wait until August 24th!!

Edwards needs to collect money because Ross has a huge fundraising advantage. Tudor has no money. He isn't going to beat Edwards in the primary or Ross in the general election. Supporting Tudor is pointless. Tudo ran a campaign in 2008 and he still doesn't know how to fundraise or get the party behind him. Attacking Wasserman-Schultz is stupid and petty.

  12. The reason the Democrats lost Polk County was not Doug Tudor. The Dems had a very incompetent County Charirwoman, so incompetent, that I even forgot her name. One of her assistants made racists remarks about the "illegals" in one Democratic Party Club meeting. I was there. After that, I withdrew from the Democratic Party of Polk County.

The Dems in Polk county are Dinos. They have a registration advantage, yet they keep on voting for the GOP. What a sorry bunch they are!

The Polk County Dems aren't helping themselves by not making the Democratic Party's case.
