Lori Edwards Fundraising Woes

The Doug Tudor and Randy Edwards nonstory has been covered on this blog. The real story is Lori Edward had a bad fundraising quarter.

Roll Call reports Edwards raised only $39,000 in the third quarter. She spent $44,000 during that period. Republican candidate Dennis Ross $144,000. Open Secrets has breakdown of the candidates' fundraising.

Democrats

Lori Edwards

Raised: $141,181
Spent: $64,593
Cash on Hand: $76,586
Last Report: September 30, 2009

Doug Tudor

Raised: $1,486
Spent: $1,750
Cash on Hand: $3,106
Last Report: June 30, 2009

Randy Edwards

No reports on record for this candidate.

District 12 was held by Adam Putnam. The Congressman is giving up his seat to run for Agriculture Commissioner. The district has been red. Edwards would have a difficult time winning the district, if her fundraising was even with Ross's. If Edwards doesn't step up her fundraising the DCCC will give up on her.

Hussey, You are finally right on the Fl-12 race. Edwards (Lori) and Tudor have to start pulling some money in, or else neither will be considered credible. It seems as if the Randy Edwards campaign is a nonstarter, due to legal challenges as well as race considerations. We'll see if he is honorable enough to admit his mistakes (crimes).

In line with the story line of Eddie Murphy's "The Distinguished Gentleman," perhaps one of our Democratic candidates should legally take the name "Adam Putnam." It would certainly help him or her in name recognition and fundraising.

Lastly, when are you going to start blogging about Mr. Ross' absolutely nutty, right-wing philosophy, instead of just harping on the shortcomings of the Democrats?

Dennis Ross is a Glenn Beck, 9/12, TeaBag looney tunes nutcase. Let's talk about the real scariness in this race.

Ewww, after mentioning Dennis Ross, I have to go shower. Blechhh.

The DCCC may have already realized this race is hopeless.

But here is what I mean. From the story:

"Democrats are also high on their chances for the Florida seats of GOP Rep. Adam Putnam, who is leaving, and Rep. C.W. (Bill) Young. State Sen. Charles Justice will challenge Young, while a primary will determine the Democratic nominee for Putnam's open seat."

The first time ever that the DCCC is not pushing Lori Edwards down our throats here. I live in the District and if only the DCCC had gotten behind a true progressive and a veteran, last time around, we could have won. Now, this race is hopeless.

Anonymous, I'm no fan of Ross. I'm more than happy to point out his shortcomings. My problem with the Tudor/Randy Edwards dust up is Democrats seem to be doing a good job of destroying themselves.

The fact is money does matter in political races. Ross has a huge financial advantage and the Democrats seem disorganized and get get their message out. It doesn't help that the district is red.
