SINK 3rd-QUARTER FUNDRAISING TOTAL: $1.6 MILLION
Gubernatorial Candidate Sink Has Best Fundraising Quarter Yet; Over $4 Million Raised Overall

*TAMPA*- Democratic gubernatorial candidate Alex Sink today announced that she raised more than $1.6 million in the third fundraising quarter of 2009, bringing her year-to-date total to over $4 million.

Sink's 3rd-quarter total represents her strongest fundraising quarter since launching her gubernatorial candidacy earlier this year and is the most money raised on record by a Democratic candidate for governor of Florida thirteen months before voters head to the polls.

Sink ended the quarter with nearly $3.6 million cash-on-hand.

"This overwhelming support from thousands of Floridians sends a clear message that it's time for a governor with a different kind of experience and a fresh approach," said Sink. "I'm honored and humbled that so many Floridians are placing their faith in me to focus on Florida’s economy and chart a better course for our state."

Demonstrating her strong support from everyday Floridians, Sink received contributions from 4,556 individuals who gave an average of $215 in support of her gubernatorial campaign. Sink also took in online donations totaling over $104,000.

"Our state is facing a unique set of challenges," Sink continued. "The people of Florida know it's going to take a business leader, not a career politician, to help rebuild our economy and make our state stronger and more prosperous for years to come."

Conservative columnist and offshore drilling advocate Mike Thomas writes the push to end the coastal ban for offshore drilling is fear of Sink becoming Governor. The players supporting drilling near Florida's beaches are the mysterious Florida Energy Associates, incoming House Speaker Dean Cannon, John Thrasher, Rep. Charles Van Zant and attorney Doug Daniels. The many members of Florida Energy Associates will not come forward. The key player is Texas oilman M. Lance Phillips.

“This is a group of individuals, patriotic Americans, who are independent businesspeople in the energy industry,” Sachs said.

That is debatable. What isn't debatable is Phillips donating money to Republican pro-drilling Republican candidates. I am going to take a wild guess. Phillips isn't rooting for Sink.
