Lemieux Hold On Offshore Drilling

Newly appointed U.S. Senator George LeMieux has placed a hold on S. 1462. Lemieux does not support ending the ban to drill for oil near Florida's coast.

Letter to Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.

Dear Leader McConnell:

I would like to inform you of my objection to any motion or unanimous consent request regarding S. 1462, or any other legislation that would end the current moratoria on oil and gas development in the Eastern Gulf of Mexico.

Given the importance of the issue to Florida, I would like to be consulted before any efforts or agreements are reached to advance legislation dealing with drilling in the Gulf of Mexico.
