Research 2000 Poll Results

The Research 2000 poll has President Barack Obama with a 60 percent favorable rating. Speaker Nancy Pelosi has a 36 percent favorable rating. Majority Leader Harry Reid's favorable rating is 34 percent.

The tea party protests and health care debate has not helped Republicans. Mitch McConnell's favorable rating is 16 percent. House Minority Leader John Boehner polls at 11 percent.

The polling differences between parties is striking. The Democratic Party polls at 45 percent to the Republican Party's 17 percent. Congressional Democrats have a 33 percent favorability advantage over Republicans.

Going on the attack has worked well for Republicans in the past. The GOP's current problem is the American people strongly distrusts the party. Republicans have not shown the ability to properly govern. People start wondering why a party that blames government for all problems want to hold elected office.

2400 people were surveyed for the poll. Below is a methodology breakdown.

Methodology
A total of 2400 adults nationally were interviewed by telephone. A cross-section of calls was made into each state in the country in order to reflect the adult population nationally.

The margin for error, according to standards customarily used by statisticians, is no more than plus or minus 2% percentage points. This means that there is a 95 percent probability that the “true” figure would fall within that range if the entire adult population were sampled. The margin for error is higher for any demographic subgroup, such as gender, race, or region.
