Crist Announces Senate Bid

I wrote in February that Gov. Charlie Crist would run for the United States Senate. Today Crist made his official announcement. The Washington Post's Chris Cillizza believes Crist signals a GOP shift to the center. Seeing how the GOP is afraid of getting on Rush Limbaugh's bad side, the best explanation is the GOP places winning above conservative ideals. The GOP is prepared to throw Marco Rubio under the bus.

"We think highly of Marco and believe he has a bright future," one GOP official told NBC's First Read, "but Crist is the GOP's best hope of keeping this seat in the GOP column."

-- Johanna Neuman

Crist will spend the next 18 month bringing his Shiny Happy People optimism to the campaign trail. House foreclosing. Don't worry about that. Crist knows things will get better. How? He is an optimist. Nevermind that he showed little interest in attending work. Crist isn't responsible for the national economy. However, it is hard to believe he can make things better from Washington after doing so little in Tallahassee.
