Great Bad Movie Performances: Morgan Freeman - Lean On Me
Morgan Freeman chews through every scene of Lean On Me with gusto. Freeman only has one tone. Loud. Freeman yells at someone and then turns up the volume in the next scene. He is the acting equivalent of a Who concert. Freeman's performance is well-suited for an Ed Wood movie.
Freeman, as Principal Joe Clark, attempts to inspire a student by urging the young pupil to commit suicide. I'm serious.
Freeman: No one talks in my meetings. No one! You take out your pencils and write.
In a meeting with parents, Freeman tells parents they're welfare failures and their kids deserve to be kicked out. Freeman starts giving a Baptist-style sermon.
Robert Guillaume tells Freeman: "I'm the head n****** in charge." Turn the volume down. Both actors pump up the volume.
Guillaume: N***** can you keep quiet!
Watch Freeman motivate his teachers into threatening to kick his ass.
