Racist Mock Obama Dollar Bill

Southern California: The Chaffey Community Republican Women sent out an October newsletter with artwork of Barack Obama on a mock dollar bill. CCRW president Diane Fedele explained the group wanted to poke fun at Obama's statement, that he doesn't look like other presidents. Fedele didn't explain why the dollar bill artwork contained KFC Chicken, Kool-Aid and watermellon.

The CCRW has faced critism. Fedele issued a public apology.

"I absolutely apologize to anyone who was offended. That clearly wasn't my attempt."

My favorite part of the article is Fedele explaining the mock dollar bill raised no red flags.

"I didn't see it the way that it's being taken. I never connected," she said. "It was just food to me. It didn't mean anything else."

Unless someone hasn't lived in America for the past 50 years, most people understand that watermellon, Kool-Aid, and fried chicken are black racial stereotypes. Fedele is using hard-to-believe George Allen defense of ignorance about cultural biases. It didn't work for Allen. There is no reason it should work for Fedele.

Side note: Republicans are getting into trouble mailing offensive humor about Obama.

  1. This is too much. I am not for Obama, but as a Black American, I think this was below the belt.I do not care what they say, this was a RACIAL statement. If Obama win, I feel so sorry for him and his family. The road to ugliness has just begun. If I created a dollar with McCain: hanging, burning, beating and raping black women, the public would come to his defense and say "he's not like that, some of his best friends are BLACK!"

  2. Unfortunately, this ignorance is rampant in McCain supporters. I actually feel bad for McCain that these people support him because he is better than that. I am white, I support Obama, and I only wish I were half as brilliant as he is .All attempts to demean him this way show how pathetic these people are--it would almost make me sad for them if I were not so repulsed..

  4. People don't realize how stupid the US Citizens look to the Europeans on these issues. Its been over 70's years and "some" white people have this hate against blacks...what for what have they done to recieve such hatred? This ignorance has been passed from generation to generation and this must stop NOW!!! Or this world will always be messed up. As for the lady who printed this disgusting dollar, she knew what she was doing and GOD have mercy on her soul..

  5. I love BBQ, fried chicken, and I don't mind watermelon. Does this make me black?

(The Kool-Aid prejudice was news to me, though. My Mom always had Kool-Aid in the house when I was growing up... My favorite flavor was lime, which they took off the market in the late 80s. I was as depressed as any 7 year old could be. Anyways, I didn't know my mom was into black chic.)

  6. Galatians, ch. 3:26 for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith. 27: For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28: There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29: And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's offspring, heirs according to promise".

Peope get a grip.I know some of you want have chosen to to believe in the superiority myth, but its simply not true. Barack Obama has as much the right to be President of the United States as any other person in this country. Get over yourselves.

  8. Wow... I think that this is just too funny!!!

And exactly how does that explain so many people pissed-offed? Maybe because many people don't find the mock dollar bill funny.

  9. This is sad. I can not under stand how the producer of this could claim or have any intent to offend anyone... I do not think the ‘Wow... I think that this is just too funny!!!’ people of America would find humor in a AARP card with McCain surrounded by the lynch mob, KKK and Bush sitting on your money. This is wrong and with the changing time should not be tolerated in this manner. Change is needed for future growth

  10. This is ignorance at its best. It is sad, stupid and reflects a total lack of sensitivity to African-Americans and the negative stereotypes that are associated with them. This is a sad commentary on the state of the people who came up with this and says a lot about their mentality and IQ. Hopefully whoever came up with this will understand the hurt and pain caused by this. Take time, think about what you have done and how you would feel if someone did something that stereotyped your race. Don’t know what the national origin of the Chaffey Community Republican Women (Italian, Jewish, etc.)But I am sure there are negative stereotypes that could be associated with you also. Trust me, ignorance could be fought with ignorance but I won’t go there. Stop it now!!!

  11. Someone in Chicago did that when Harold Washington was running for Mayor in the 80's. They printed a flyer with watermelon, ribs, a cadillac. And made a statemwnt like that was what blacks called prosperity. I can't remember the exact article. But it was in the Chicago Tribune. It's sad that people are still so ignorant.

  12. This society should be called IRRB (Ignorgant Republican Rich Bitches), if they were the highly esteemed community women they try to represent, they might have had the idea, but to put that on paper would have been totally inappropriate. How can you have the audacity to mock the future leader of this country. Their southern Californian "roots" probably don't even have a KFC/Barbeque restaurant remotely close, neither have they even had the PLEASURE of having a sip of kool-aid. Maybe they should stick to what they know and place Mr. Obama surrounded by a bottle of Dom Perignon, Filet Mignon, escargot, and caviar. Fortunately for them "We" like sauce, batter, flavors and seasonings, instead of dry, bland, tasteless, borrowed/stolen versions of REAL FOOD!!!
This month's edition of their cute little newsletter respectfully should contain a five dollar bill(equal to half the value as Obama's) with McCain sitting on a double-wide, in fatigue overalls and a matching helmet, chewing tobacco, with a flag pole up his Ass!!! I hope that's not too offensive because clearly that wasn't my attempt....

  13. What makes this even more racist is the fact that it is NOT a mock dollar bill. It was a mock FOOD STAMP.

  15. Regardless of how racial the comments get, Obama WILL be president, I am confident in that!! He is a brilliant and distinguished gentleman that has the respect of his peers and even of those opposing him. What the problem is that the opposition cannot find anything viably accurate to smear his impeccable reputation. Of course, some will say "He lacks the experience," However, the only experience that George W. Bush had was his father's, so try again. There is no doubt in my mind that on election day all those "nay sayers" ,and ignorant people still clinging to the hatred that has plagued our nation long enough, will have to eat crow for the next four years..if not longer. And please know that "Its a hands-off policy" ya'll touch him, we RIDE!!!! And that is so FOR-REAL.....ONE NATION UNITED (COME TOGETHER YOUNG PEOPLE.....lets take charge of OUR future and make this election count!!! In order to shut down stupid shit, such as this mockery, its seems like that thought of Barack Obama becoming president makes alot of people who based their lives on concepts of superiority a little nervous. As they should be, cause we is a comin...Barack 08

  19. Oh, I get it! It's OK for black guys to GANG RAPE PALIN, but it is WAY out of bounds to post an obviously funny stereotypical dollar bill about Obama. Folks, lighten up, or we'll all be toten guns and leaving our children fatherless. It's OK to laugh for cryin out loud. Ever heard of Dave Chapelle???

  20. I love Popeye's Fried Chicken, especially spicy. And I love red beams w/ rice. I'm not so much for ribs, but they're ok, I guess. As for Koolaid, ok, I guess. I'm partial to Hawaian Punch. And the donkey is obvious: Democrat Party, right?? I'd rather be a donkey than an elephant and I'm a frigging Republican! Could stand to lose a few pounds too after all this blogging!

  21. carmen: "brilliant and distinguished gentleman"

Give me a fucking BREAK! In tight with Rezko the slum lord, in tight with Ayers the whacko '60s Pentagon bomber, in tight with the Chi-coms and American commies, questionable ties to Islamists in Kenya, in tight with ACORN who forced banks to give risky loans via the CRA of Jimmy Carter fame and now has caused the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression! Yeah, fucking BRILLIANT! The man should be shot!

  22. HAHAHAHA!!!! I think that this is hilarious! I also think the idea of having mccain on a 5 dollar bill on a double wide is great too! I think too many of you are so consumed with this race issue because you are stupid! Okay, so someone doesn't like you or me for what we believe or what we look like. The fact is, it is the law that we can all do the same things and we all have the same rights! If you choose not to activate your position then get over it! Just because Obama is biracial....not even all the way black I might add, you are gettin offended....Remember, he is still a politician and rather the person be black white asian or a dog it is always something to giggle about when someone is kidding around! Lighten up!

  23. If people can call Bush a retarded cowboy and tell him to go back to Texas, people should be able to say whatever they want about Obama. He's black, the blacks know it, they flaunt it, so theres going to be criticism. I wouldn't have apologized for crap.

  24. so now there is 'black' food??? sounds like the racists are the ones crying about this.

  26. Since when is kool aid a racist thing? I think it was mocking the kool aid drinking, suicide cult mentality, of the democraps.

But they really should have avoided the fried chicken and watermelon. Instead they should have pointed out that our first third world president is going to make us into a third world country...it's what he call spreading the wealth around.

  27. Who gives rats if it is seen as racist or not by some parts of society. The stereotype hurts only as much as it fits.

  28. My children are 1/4 African American (their mother was 1/2 African American) 3 of them have mostly African American Features and the other child does not look African American, the three children have been called "nigglets" they hae been asked if their mama "gave them a Colt 40 in their bottle" They refuse to eat chicken or watermelon at school and will not eat barbecue ribs at a restaurant because they hate the stereotypes associated with the food. Those of you who claim that they didn't know their was Black food are being stupid their are stereotypes about certain foods being the only foods that blacks eat/.

  29. I am for Obama but even if i wasnt this dollar bill is just plain immature. Whoever made this and posted it he/she seriously need to get a life. You couldnt find something better else to do with your time then this really??? WOW this just blows my mind. All of our presidents choices have brought us to were we are today, and the minutes Obama gets into office everyone wants to shit talk him. We have given every other president a chance why cant we do the same for Obama? The mess that America is in isnt going to change over night. We arent going to wake up and everythings better it takes time and years. We wont even know what will happen with all these changes that obamas doing till prolly hes out of the office. So if you really are going to point the finger at someone just remember there are three more pointing back at you. Im not saying you must support our president but for heaven sakes is it really solving anything by putting him down??? Also we have come so far with the issue with racism and its like some people just havent learned anything from it. It crazy how people judge others by there color of skin that just is insane and pathetic. To me is sounds like there are many people in this world that are just plain stupid and for those stupid ignorant people maybe you should look up to our very well educated president maybe you will learn some intelligence. And for the record im a white american who supports our black american president.
