The British
The Economist endorses Barack Obama. The editorial board are
classical liberals. American libertarians have some similarities. Conservatives bloggers will just say another liberal media outlet endorsed Obama. I thought throw the "classical liberals" raw meat out there. Fire away,
Peer Review.
Yes, founded by Jeremy Bentham, 'The Economist' was a Victorian 'Liberal Rag', Liberals being the party of the parvenu merchants and industrialists as opposed to the Tories, the party of the traditional landed gentry. The Liberals were often as not called the Radicals because they were radical capitalists: the noblesse oblige of the Tories only interfered with the workings of The Invisible Hand. 'Let the Irish stave!' was the policy of Lord Russell's liberal government in the late 1840s. In future they'll take care not to put all their potatoes in one basket!
