Get Out of Galveston Bay

I got this news update from CNN.

People sheltering at ground level at Galveston Bay when Hurricane Ike hits face "certain death," the weather service warns.

Get to safety people.

Update: Reuters reports Ike will hit land as a Category 3 with 117 mph winds. Storm surges may reach up to 20 feet.

One Texas official likened the potential wall of water to a tidal wave, not just a storm surge.

"This is a surge tsunami," said Jack Colley, of the state emergency management team. "This is not rising water."

Residents of Galveston have been ordered to leave. The island may end up being underwater. It is that bad.
