Democrats increased their numbers by almost 169,000 from the end of December through the end of May, compared to nearly 64,000 more Republicans, according to the Department of State.
The state Democratic Party said when June registration figures are added in, there are almost 212,000 more Democrats since the beginning of the year, compared to nearly 82,000 more Republicans. Voters registered with other parties or no party at all increased by about 41,000.
Earlier in the year, I would have said Florida with vote for the Republican nominee. Obama's ground game in Florida has been better. McCain then advocates drilling off the coast of Florida. Conservative blogger Jim Johnson thought McCain was giving Obama an opening to win Florida.
Can someone explain McCain's Florida strategy? Registering new voters and a populist message to local concerns is how candidates win. McCain touches the third rail of Florida politics and is not energizing voters. McCain needs to refine his message of less jobs and more wars.
