Sleater-Kinney Music Goodies

Sleater-Kinney's One Beat was one of the bravest political statements from American artists, this past decade. The Bush administration still held high approval rating. The White House demonized critics and scared Democrats. A lesbian punk rock band unleashed songs that questioned the President's policies and polarizing tactics. The song Combat Rock captured country's mood.

Our country's marching to the beat now
And we must learn to step in time
Where is the questioning where is the protest song?
Since when is skepticism un-American?
Dissent's not treason but they talk like it's the same
Those who disagree are afraid to show their face

These women do not have the Pearl Jam's or U2's resources. They took a great deal of grieve about their political views. Bashing Bush was not safe in 2002.

I was delighted to find out that Sleater-Kinney covered the Richard & Linda Thompson song I Want to See the Bright Lights Tonight.
