Jamie Leigh Jones

Jamie Leigh Jones

Jamie Leigh Jones told ABC News she was drugged and raped fellow Halliburton/KBR contractors. Jones told 20/20 she was locked in a crate by her assaulters and told not to file charges.

"It felt like prison," says Jones, who told her story to ABC News as part of an upcoming "20/20" investigation. "I was upset; I was curled up in a ball on the bed; I just could not believe what had happened."

Finally, Jones says, she convinced a sympathetic guard to loan her a cell phone so she could call her father in Texas.

"I said, 'Dad, I've been raped. I don't know what to do. I'm in this container, and I'm not able to leave,'" she said. Her father called their congressman, Rep. Ted Poe, R-Texas.

Imagine being a father and hearing your daughter say she has been raped and held captive. Jamie's situation is even harder to fathom. Being a woman in a foreign country at the mercy of brutal men.

Welcome to the heart of darkness.

Media reports, Congressman Ted Poe and Jones' father say that she was released because of State Department intravention.

"We contacted the State Department first," Poe told ABCNews.com, "and told them of the urgency of rescuing an American citizen" -- from her American employer.

Poe says his office contacted the State Department, which quickly dispatched agents from the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad to Jones' camp, where they rescued her from the container.

A Congressman confirmed the story. The Bush administration would be stupid to use the State Department to protect Halliburton and KBR. The State Department granted Blackwater mercenaries, involved in the killings of 17 Iraqi civilians, were granted immunity. The only logical reason for doing this is to destroy the FBI chances of prosecution. People should put pressure on the State Department to make sure that doesn't happen again.

The Army test showed Jones was raped. Why in God's name did Army doctors hand the rape kit to KBR? Any criminal investigation should be done by neutral outsiders. Jones is an American citizen protected under the laws of the United States. KBR is not law enforcement. The Army should have informed the FBI about a civilian rape.

The Justice Department had two years to make a case and did nothing. By all accounts: prosecution should have been a slam dunk. Instead the rape kit was given to the last people that should have posession of evidence and we have no idea if DoJ ever questioned State Deparetment officials. Exactly what does a contractor have to do to warrant the Bush administration's outrage?

The sad fact is the Bush administration put contracts under the State Department. Jones's assaulters are protected from prosecution thanks to the law designed by the State DEpartment.

Update: Jamie's journel is at her foundation's website.

July 26, 2005 US/ July 27 Baghdad- I sent several e-mails to management to ask to be moved into a container because I was experiencing cat calls even when I was walking through the barrack to get to the restroom. I received the response that I would be fine if I “go to the spa." There was no spa in Greenzone, Baghdad . I started socializing with some Halliburton/ KBR employees, including approximately four or so firefighters. One of these men prepared me a drink and joked that there were no “rooffies” in it, and handed it to me. After having a couple sips, I passed out. I was drugged.

July 28, 2005 US/ July 29 Baghdad- I awoke the next morning in the barracks to find my naked body battered and bruised. I was still groggy from whatever had been put in my drink. I was bleeding from between my legs and my breast implants were severely disfigured. (I found out later that my attackers tore my pectoral muscles due to the brutality of the attack). One of the men who had raped me was brazen enough to be lying in the bottom bunk of my assigned bunk bed. After getting to the clinic and having a rape kit performed, and pictures taken of my bruising, I was locked in a container with no food, no way to call my parents, and was placed under armed guard by Halliburton. I did not have access to soap, toiletries, a tooth brush, or any of my belongings. I was unable to leave, therefore I was imprisoned. After some time, one of the guards allowed me to use his cell phone out of sympathy. I called my father back in Houston, who quickly contacted Congressman Ted Poe, who then initiated a Congressional Inquiry to get me out of Baghdad . At this point I was in a state of shock, severely traumatized, and was scared for my life.

Jones goes into detail about her frustration with the handling of her case. The incompetence is staggering. The doctor wasn't sure if he could find Jones's rape kit because he has "no idea which rape victum you are because so many young contractor girls were raped after drinking with the guys."

It looks like her only real recourse is a media-induced public outcry.

The federal govenrment is going to have to be shamed about this. Many Americans associate all Iraqis to terrorists. The Right can't say Jones is a member of Al-Qaeda that got what she deserved. The media will go into overdrive over a young attractive woman in distress. CNN couldn't be bothered to question the WMD intelligence. They are too busy covering Anna Nicole Smith, the Runaway Bride and any young attactive woman that will garner ratings. It is sad that it takes a rape of an American woman to get the media to question the State Department's handling of contractors.

Update: Shakesville has a post on the Jones story and links to other bloggers covering the story.

I left this comment at Shakesville.

The outrage has sparked so fast. What people need to do is lobby Congress to retroactively change the State Department contracting laws. Blackwater, Halliburton need to be held accountable.

Jamie's diary states that an Army doctor told her that there are so many rapes of American woman in Iraq that they would have a hard time finding the rape kit. They ultimately did. There is no telling how many Western and Iraqi women have been raped by military and contractor personal.

Change. the. contractor. law. now.

  1. Amazing, isn't it, that we're only now hearing about this.

And yes, what a ghastly thought, having your child call you from halfway around the world to tell you she'd been gang-raped and then imprisoned in a crate--by her own employers! Unbelievable.

Thank you for writing about this.

  3. I don't know... this is so perfectly packaged for anyone looking to further torpedo bush/kbr/halliburton etc. fishy. we shall see as more details emerge.

ran into similar situations several times when I was in the marines. usually what happens is a girl gets drunk with some guys, they all go to town, and once she sobers up instead of becoming the "barracks ho who likes to run the train" she cries rape to protect her rep. It spirals out of control from there, and always ends ugly. It is very, very difficult to prove anything, but to be safe most of the time the commander just kicks everybody out and sends her away to another unit.

one time I saw the accused guy get off with a slap on the wrist, because he videotaped half of it... she was too drunk to remember the tape was made.

If you don't know then how can you have an opinion. Spare me the blame the victim bullshit. A Republican congressman believes her story. Jones waited two years and went through the State Department before she went public.

"one time I saw the accused guy get off with a slap on the wrist, because he videotaped half of it... she was too drunk to remember the tape was made."

Interesting people you know. If the girl is drunk she is not in her frame of mind. The only kind of guys that videotape women having sex with them are such clowns as Kid Rock and Tommy Lee. The woman can sue if she didn't sign a model waiver.

    - not necessarily folks, It's a lot harder to ship booze in- military and contractor mail is screened for drugs, alcohol, all sorts of contraband. But you can get most anything on the streets, pretty cheap too. Occasionally watered down, but most any alcohol is available. Don't know about drugs, but would guess that where there's a market... a supplier emerges..

  10. I believe just read some MSM article in the last couple of days that was touting the re-opening of a liquor store as one of the signs of success of the surge.

It's easy to forget that whatever else Saddam did, he didn't run the government under Sharia law.

  11. juan: Yeah, this is 6th grade if you try to lead folks on that booze isn't readily available in Iraq.

My dad was in the Marines, retired full Colonel, and would find your comment line despicable. You were party to the events you describe? If so, that is a shame.

  12. mt, others..

    1. Booze is readily available in iraq. Never said it wasnt. It's just not available at the PX, you have to hit the streets.

    2. I didn't participate in said events, but sexual misconduct happens on every military base (or college campus) on earth where young men, young women, and alcohol are co-located. Your dad, retired Colonel, will absolutely back me up when I say that the barracks are not a place for young, naive women. Does the military prosecute every offender to the fullest extent of the law? Yep. Does it stop it from happening? not really.

Believe it or not, the heroic Marine Corps that has defended our nation for these 232 years are, in the majority, 18-22 year old men with a lot of testosterone and occasional lapses in judgement, usually exacerbated by alcohol.

  13. "Snark" that getting someone's name right is important, particularly when you're clearly so inflamed about her? "Jennifer" appears twice more, including an update posted, I think, since my original comment.

Either this woman's life and the facts are important, or they're not. I hope you do the right thing.

  14. I was over there during the war 2003, and to walk to the bathroom, eat at the DFAC, do your laundry, go to the PX, go to the gym, or just go to work, women are bothered daily! Many times I was afraid as I walked to the trailer to use the bathroom... you saw so much going on over there that many civilians in the states would never believe. But, there are two sides to every story. I just hope the perps will be brought to justice. The military isn't as 'clean cut' as many civilians think it is...you'd be surprised as to what we go through and witness!

  15. I was stationed with KBR in Bagram AB. This kind of shit to include suicide and accidental death and other serious accidents, rape, homosexuality, and beating of the locals and many other stuff is always covered up by the KBR upper management. They have code of silence used very well. And will deny, lie, loose paperwork, loose evidence, pay you and even come up with witnesses that don't exist. Everything Jaime leigh Jones says happen is a 100% true. KBR does not police it self and if it claims to, Its the Fox watching the hen house. KBR is one step from being Jone's town and KBR management has drank the Kool-Aid. That company needs to be held criminally responsible and someone in the government with some balls needs to give the KBR company management an eye opening ENAMA !! The company is doing so many thing not only wrong, but illegal and endangering the lives inicent and nieve employees. The best way to get what you need Jaime is to get back ground checks on all the guilty partys and management that dares to get involved. The majority of the employees with the capability to do these haneous crimes are ex-felons hired by KBR.

To expose these terrible acts Jamie is forced to expose herself. That takes an extraordinary amount of courage. Jamie, thank you for having that courage and for pressing this issue as, unfortunately, that these acts can even occur while employed by a US Government Contractor is a symptom of the current White House administration. Thank you again.

  18. For what it's worth, I absolutely agree with Juan. As a 10-year Marine officer with three tours in Iraq, I think I'm fairly qualified to speak on the issue. Our Marines do amazing things, and I have the utmost respect for all servicemembers. That said, we're all human, and any time you have a population of young men with no access to the comforts of home, they're bound to use bad judgment from time to time. I'm not condoning it or excusing it; I've been involved in the prosecution/discipline of several cases. It's to be expected, though.

  19. Any employer, civil or military, must take care of the security of its employees, men AND women! A company cannot accept a culture where sexual harassment is common, or these kind of things will for sure happen. It is obvious that the employer did not do much to prevent this, and handled the situation extremely bad afterwards. This is a HSE issue, not about whether or not people drink alcohol.

  20. juan: "Does the military prosecute every offender to the fullest extent of the law? Yep."

I'd submit that the history of rapes/sexual assaults occurring at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, and the following cover ups, don't match with your statement.

Your statement also doesn't jive with your previous statement: "It is very, very difficult to prove anything, but to be safe most of the time the commander just kicks everybody out and sends her away to another unit."

  22. What a horrible, sad story. How would those folks feel if it happened to their daughter? The perpetrators should be held to US standards, not Iraq or the Wild West.

And by the way, the caption under her photo has a typo that changes the meaning completely -- maybe it was wishful thinking! You might want to correct it so it says she was raped by, not that she raped KBR staff.

  23. i am totally embarrassed but not surprised to see jarheads and other prior military excusing the event and saying that it just happens. another shining example of how little moral training (or any) goes into our "military" defending our "freedom". i guess it's all okay as long is it doesn't happen where "these colors don't run." what a shame.

  26. As a U.S. Navy veteran, I am outraged, appalled and saddened that our military is being recklessly tossed in harm's way so Bush/Cheneyburton and the Corporate States of America can cash in on no-bid contracts; that it is the young men and women in our military who are losing life and limb to feed this loathsome administration's avarice; that they have to suffer as Bush tries to impose his fascist agenda on the Middle East. The Jamie Leigh Jones story is just another example of this administration's irresponsibility and utter lack of regard for military members and civilians alike who are serving our country abroad. Over the past 7 years we have seen the Bush adminstration defecate on our civil liberties and wipe itself with the Constitution. We have witnessed death and destruction unfold daily before our eyes as a war that never should have been waged grinds on with no end in sight. We have seen this administration condone and endorse the use of torture. If Congress won't develop enough backbone to impeach the Boy Emperor and his rough-shod cowboy regime, they should at least find a way to muster enough decency as human beings to investigate and prosecute a crime as serious as rape. One scandal, one disgrace after another--Dubya's presidency is a smudge of excrement on the history of this nation. Hold them accountable; they've gotten away with enough already.

  28. Getting booze into Iraq or the base is easy. Listerine, the original flavor looks like whiskey/gold rum/ or any other amber colored booze.

Take the plastic seal off with a razor blade, fill with said booze, and superglue seal back on.

Send off to the base APO with toiletries, razor, toothbrush and toothpaste. It gets in every time.

Had a buddy over there. Plus, there are liquor stores all around town, just not on the base.

    ReplyDelete
  29. well, I have trouble believing it actually. As far as the company went, they were retardedly strict on sexual harrassment. 2nd, Halliburton/KBR doesn't employ firefighters. 3rd, they don't have armed guards. 4th, if the KBR medic told her that their were numerous rapes, that means he would have to be in on covering it up because if there were one single rape at all, the ACO (Auditing Control Officer-military), the DCMA (Defense Contract Management Auditor-military), the Base Commander (If in the Greenzone then probably a General), the civilian Camp Manager and Project Manager would have locked up and interrogated several people including possibly shutting down all operations and suspending the contract on base pending investigation. It would definitely have been a big deal. I'm not saying she wasn't raped, but if she were, they would not have locked her in her hooch (container--a conex like you see on ships and trains, with a door cut in it, a bathroom, and two bedrooms). She would have been airlifted out of country immediately and guarded by the military.

There was a case on our base where a guy got fired by KBR but couldn't catch a flight out for weeks because of scheduling. There were flights leaving, but HR was messing with him. So, he packed his bags and walked out the front gates. Force Protection caught him quickly, he told them that KBR was keeping him prisoner, and they airlifted him out the next morning. The point is that the military already doesn't like the civvies being there, so when a civvie messes up, it is well-known and well-documented. We had guys fired for having porno dvds in their hooch, and you're going to tell me that a rape went unnoticed? I don't know. Who knows anymore? We had a KBR guy rape an Iraqi lady in a deal to get her brother hired. It took them almost a year to get rid of him because they couldn't prove anything. Who knows. It's all messed up.

  30. Point to ponder. If a man is punished for having sex with a woman who is "under the influence" and "cannot give her consent" properly, Why are not women all over this country being sued for having sex with a MAN who is "under the influence"?
She did NOT deserve to be raped.
That said, she could not have been more STUPID! She gets fake tits to make them MORE noticeable, takes on one of the most violent jobs in the world, with violent MEN. Men who double her weight and mass. In a violent WAR zone. With the possibility of death everyday. Probably shared the same shower/toiletries as the men. These men outnumber her what? How many to one?????? And she expects cuddles and lullabies???!!!!!!! Maybe they were to rock her to sleep at night? This has nothing to do with President Bush or the company they worked for. It is about a foolish girl who tried to be "the same as a man".
Rape is wrong. The men were wrong, if they did it. But she is MORE responsible than they. If she had taken a pretty girl, made her more attractive to men, put her alone in a life and death high stress situation day in and day out, getting un/dressed in front of them, she would be locked up. Well, she did it, TO HERSELF!!!!!!!

and this idiot in the last post claims it's her fault for looking pretty?

  33. Let me say that I watched the entire Judiciary Committee hearings on C-Span last night regarding the Jamie Leigh Jones incident and this is the first time I had ever known about this situation.

I worked in Iraq for a total of 2 years with KBR and then Parsons. I have also worked for many years all over the world in contractor support of the military. So, I would guess that I know something about what goes on and what does not go on in those areas.

To tell the truth, in all of these many years, I have never seen nor heard of any rapes, serious harassments, or assaults against any individual, either female or male. I knew a lot of women in Iraq, who were co-workers, and if this had been going on they would have told me. We all worked 16 to 20 hours a day 7 days a week in Iraq, so I can't see how anyone would have the time or energy to do any raping.

Maybe we should all step back and take a deep breath before we start accusing KBR of negligence and coverups. Possibly this incident has already been investigated completely and no evidence of a rape or assault has been found. None of us know much about the facts or myths surrounding this problem. I agree, that we should demand a thorough investigation to determine exactly what happened and to prosecute whoever was responsible. Any man who would do something like this is an animal and should be shot on site as far as I'm concerned. I am also inclined to believe Jamie and to acknowledge that a few incidents such as this do happen. However, please let's get all of the facts first before we start nailing KBR to the stake. They are one of the oldest and best companies that has supported the US Military for half a century.

  36. I was there too, as a girl soldier. Didn't have much contact with KBR types but I can speak to one function with them and plenty of great evenings with 3 of the PSD companies, and every once in a while, with a select number of military folk, all who seriously outranked me. Alone or with another female, on numerous occasions where alcohol flowed freely, I NEVER once felt threatened, intimidated, or had it inferred to me that in exchange for my participation in the "party" I was required to pass on some sexual favors. I have seen, especially in basic training and AIT, plenty of young females who joined the military for all the wrong reasons-and wound up pregnant, catching some STD, or basically looking for a boost of esteem in all the wrong places. And alcohol was always a factor. Oh, and by the way, you just have to know where off the FOB to buy booze-not all Iraqis practice Islam to the letter, and they do have liquor stores-my buddies were probably their number one customers. And no, while I don't resemble JLJ, I'm not hard on the eyes, yes, I did manage to do my job well above standard, and no, I wasn't a FOBBIT-we rolled out on a regular basis.

Also everyone is in a CONTAINER they are called LIVING CONTAINERS!!! what the news are showing is a shipping container something they found on the internet and are showing with their iraq pictures with her story where did they get these pictures of the container andof Iraq she was only there for 4 days looks like they hunted for something to act like it was a container. Ted Poe said Jones wasn't allowed to leave the container until he called the State Department. KBR admitted they took the rape kit. Jones' lawyer still hasn't seen the rape kit.

Also the Gurka guards are outside of everyone container!!! They keep us safe from the insurgents that try to take over camp hope...

  40. I too am a female in the military and I was in Iraq and other countries over there, we were told to be very careful and as females to not go anywhere alone, this IS happening and not just with contractors, the active duty miltary are just as guilty, but it is not being covered up, we were warned from day one. This does not give these assholes an excuse to take advantage of them, drinking, being a good looking woman, NONE of it gives them any excuse. I feel so sorry for this poor young lady and anyone else who has been hurt by Charles Bortz, he is an evil man and has been allowed to get away with too much, he has a violent history and has never had to man up to anything in his life. Hopefully he will be prosecuted and spend the rest of his life in prison being raped on a daily basis, he deserves it.

The Job of the Jamie Leigh Jones Foundation so the attorneys who also sit on the board of the foundation can take affadavits from other victims that have absolutely nothing ot do with Jamie Jones and have Jones submit it to congress and the media because she has nothing. The Foundation abuses victims to boost the president of the foundation Jones. Also I was in the same place as Jones it is a living container which is a trailer not a shipping container or craite This isnt the whole story of Tracy Barker. Tracy Barker was threatened of being dropped by counsel if she told her whole story in December reason were told to her and husband 1st Seargant Galen Barker that they didint want the media to listen to their story about Halliburton so that Jamie Jones rape victim could get all the media attention. There for this interview was only confined to the State Dept abuse. Tracy Barker was locked up in a living containerr twice and had sworn statements from HR Halliburton While Barker was being locked in a container HR manager/Halliburton watched Barker urinate stating that Hall/KBR didnt want Tracy to call the US again for help. for some reason the attorneys kept a thumb on their head. Tracy and Galen Barker never came through the the Jamie leigh jones foundation that is a lie and Jamie Jones never came forward first as a matter of fact the Barkers several months after being home before Jones even went to Baghdad helped Jamie Jones by introducing her to their attorneys but this is what the foundation and attorneys that they share did. Attorneys took affadavits from Barker victim that were eye witness to accounts of Barkers abuse. Barker has proof of everything she claims even statements of the people who locked her up. Barker and husband 1st Seargant Galen Barker claim Lynn Falango State Dept investigator was handing out Barkers phone number to rape victims including Jones because they didnt know what to do. Now we all know that no one owns witnesses and the attorneys have the right to use these statements as see proper how can you tell me it is proper to take these affadavits of Rodgers and Letty Surman and have Jamie Jones submit them to the press and congress with Barkers name not mentioned on affadavits which were to be used for litigation only. How could these be more fit for Jamie she never went to Basra Iraq? Tracy was revictimized and dumped by attorneys hours after arbritration ruling look at the dates of the cases folks also it isn’t a shipping container it’s a trailer

  43. Keri:
If what your saying is true, why do you blog it? Send it to your congressman or state rep. and get the Dept. of labor involved at a minimum and suit everyone involved. And if her husband is military get the IG involved as well.

  44. wow this is an evil story.

A lot of you believe she is a liar, why is that?

I have seen that Americans like to blame the victims a lot and not just on this post but on others.

How can a woman rip her pectoral muscles and rupture her breast implants on purpose. These are acts of violence. so being raped at the same time meant these men like to be sexually violent. To stop anyone hearing them they had to drug her otherwise all the pain would make her scream and cry out, which will then get peoples attention.

I see some people are complaining that it has taken her two years to come forward, so what. A victim can come forward anytime she feels strong enough to and if she had gone to the doctors to give them samples they can hold that sample of DNA for about 10 years I think. This means the woman could have waited that long. Just because you have been raped doesnt mean you have to take it to the justice system striaght away.

Also peopel can be clever, certainly those high up. They have the power to make anyone disappear. So maybe think again about this whole case and dont always think that women lie about rape.

  45. Its funny that barker is aggressive to another victim more than the company which mistreated her. From my recolection i thought the victims came foward on the same day and same show segment 20/20. How can this keri person know so much about Ms Jones. I thought affadavits are public record wouldnt the press be able to get that themselves if they really wanted it. Why is it surmised that Ms Jones is giving out affadivits. These accusations just dont add up.

  46. How many years have we been in iraq? Here is a fun fact, 50% of the american work force overseas is civilian contractors and 50% military. Under the ucmj numerous court martials have been processed to their full extent. Approximately 180,000 civilian contractors are over in iraq at one time. Not 1 indictment or procecution has been processed by the state department. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.............. Makes you wonder if these 180,000 people are perfect angels every last one of them. I promise not all are. Unfortunately human nature has it so that there are some bad seeds in there. If you watched cspan they covered this during the hearing.

  47. Tracy did mention the rape of Craig Grabein Tracy was in the hospital of 2007 pregnant with twins and problems with her kidneys. She was taken advantage of used and abused never informed and lied to. The attorney morris is very inaccurate she was never listed as the barkers attorney yet was the only one hired and basically abandoned the barkers and is in very big trouble!!! Kelly they never hired as their counsel , Paul Waldner they never hired. Tracy did mention her rape 2 years ago Tracy has had false fraud information about her submitted to the courts and stolen things.
    Tracy’s diary
“I was the only female that lived on the floor of the barracks at the end of the hall I had to walk past half naked men to go to the bathroom and hear cat calls” Tracy tells Halliburton that a women by the name of Amandad Bush complained with her in 2004. Sound familiar????? Jamies words on her testimony taken from Tracy’s journal 3 years ago.

Yes NITRO those exact words came out of Tracys journal that Halliburton already has had for 3 years” Halliburton already fixed this problem in December of 2004 they put up cement walls and moved the tables.
Lets see what else did Jamie Jones steal from Tracy Barkers journal

“They told me to stay and get over it or go back with no job” sound familiar yes those are more words from Tracy’s documents from 3 years ago.

Attorney Kelly is a pathetic liar.
Tracy was not raped in Baghdad and she never exchanged sex for any living favors in Basra. THAT IS A LIE! Kevin Rodgers and Letty Surman were never in Bagdhad with Jamie Jones.
Hey Shadow if you get this blog pull all of the evidence and lies in the Jones case and see that Basrah also known as al Basra is a different place than the Green zone Iraq. 400 miles apart

The DRP handbook that Jamie gave to the attorneys is from Jamie Jones not Tracy
How do we know this???? HMMM
the DRP was given to Halliburton/KBR employees as part of the in processing new hire for Iraq the summer of 2005
Tracy in processed in 2004 it wasnt given to the employees in 2004

Letty Surman was never in Baghdad until November 2005.
open your eyes and read before you open your big mouth other than that I will be there to route the Barkers on for Justice. When does fame become part of Justice…

  48. For all these people blaming the victims: if they know so much then why are you posting comments anonymously?

  49. You are all acting like children!!! Anyone can assume what happens and voice their opinion. Let's break down ASSUME it makes an ASS out of U and ME.

Our country has given us the freedom of speech and we abuse it everyday in voice and in letters.

Look at the facts and go from there. You did not witness what happened! You don't know the morals and ethics of the accused and victim. So do not speak for them and give your view of what they where thinking!

  50. Juan,

If the girl you described was so drunk that she didn't know that someone was taping her while fucking her, then that is rape by definition.

Why, you may be asking yourself? [because obviously you have no clue]

Because she cannot consent to sex if she is so drunk. Any guy who does that to a girl in that condition should be run out of the corp and then put in prison.

Any marine who doesn't agree with that doesn't deserve to wear the uniform.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I totally agree! but I think the the corp should take more effort in policing its own. But I know them well stuff like this is like wiping your ass, it stinks like hell and nobody likes it, and when they get shit on their hands they like to wash it off and forget about it. But it doesn't make it right in no way.

  52. In response to "chain smoker"..
#1-you said " As far as the company went, they were retardedly strict on sexual harassment."

which means they repeated it over and over and over again in Houston before you left.

Have you seen the people that KBR hires in Houston?? I mean talk about the bottom 10%!! I always had such a laugh when I went there (3 times) to see such hillbillies, and gangsta wannabee's. It was such an embarassment to have to travel with KBR from Houston and on each R&R. What a shame...so much money in the hands of such little minds. Not all of KBR employees fit the statement above, but a damn big amount of them do! anyone wanting a laugh, go to houston (greenpoint mall, or something like that) and see for yourself.
#2, You sir also said, "KBR doesn't have any firefighters"
    (buzzer sounds eeerrrrrpp!) WRONG!
I worked for another company subcontracted by KBR to do the firefighting all over Iraq. KBR firefighters stayed only in the green zone. They were posted in some bases, but could not handle the enormous task at hand, so sub contracted to us. In turn, we became a "strategic partner" as they liked to call us, but no mistake, KBR called the shots. Again, KBR is in the GREEN ZONE.

For the record, I worked with this guy named in the case, Charles Bortz. He left KBR and came to work for my company. I knew him well, and even though I can't prove he did it, we all know by his boasting and egotistic attitude that he was fully capable of committing the crime. He showed us pics from the green zone and all their "conquests" there. I should have paid more attention to those pics, but I blew it off as the usual KBR former Air force firefighter wannabee's loving to puff themselves up as something their not. The state dept just missed picking him up in Baghdad, as he had just left for R&R. I was hoping they would be waiting for him back in Florida, but last I heard, he made it back without incident and is still working in Iraq, making 100k a year. Note to Ms Jones. Sue him! Easier than taking on KBR's lawyers. With his background with women, you will have alot of backup. Soon after that drama, I resigned. I could not stay working for these companies, seeing how bad the management was getting. The first year you go, its for a good cause, not just the money. After that, its the only reason to go.. Easy Money. I fell for the greed for 2 more years, but eventually realized its not for me, and many others agree. There are alot of good people working in Iraq for KBR and others, BUT unfortunately, there are even MORE bad ones,(they know this) and before I left in 2007, it was just getting worse, so I can't imagine the way it is now.

  53. Fireboss, Charles Bortz has actually been arrested for assaulting two other women after he did what he did to Jamie Leigh Jones. Thanks for the info regarding him.

  54. Why do perfectly healthy women get breast implants? Ummmm, for the attention? Why do people fabricate a fantastical story for the media?

  55. I went though Air Force Basic Training with Charles Bortz from June 24 to August 2, 1996 where he was an element leader in our flight (Flight 331) under SSgt Ronald Hetzel. Charles Bortz was a bully to other members. It is to no surprise the allegations against Bortz since he apparently has not changed. I ashamed to say the Air Force failed to teach Bortz any life values.
