More City of Tampa Layoffs

Another great example of how trickle down economics does not create new jobs.

In a surprise move, Mayor Pam Iorio on Wednesday announced plans to lay off 100 more city employees by consolidating some operations and privatizing others, such as security and janitorial services.

Iorio attributed the move to reduced revenue because of property tax reform.

The measure is expected to save the city $3.4 million a year. This is the first phase of a three-year program likely to result in even more layoffs, she said.

I would love to hear Marco Rubio explain (besides Riverwalk) where the fat is in the City of Tampa's budget. Rubio needs to explain why Floridians are paying Donna Arduin $10,000 a month.

  1. Here's an insider's POV on all that: SCREWED BY THE CITY OF TAMPA

Pam Iorio is giving birth to some REAL bad vibes in Pampa.

The article and comments following in the Pampa Tribune were QUITE revealing.
Funny how all the 'imports' and those from 'abroad' are secure in their positions while longterm Pampa residents are being ousted.

That's a real liability for Pampa so thank goodness she has rubbed up to the firefighters.
Also there IS the fifteen thousand dollar raise for Pam. Sixty thousand dollars could be readily saved.
NOT to mention all the money spent on HUNDREDS of vehicles for the dept of growth and bus. development.
There's criminal activity afoot not just fat.
