"I absolutely agree that Social Security is not in crisis."
Barack Obama - Oct. 30, 2007
"You know, Senator Clinton says that she's concerned about Social Security but is not willing to say how she would solve the Social Security crisis, then I think voters aren't going to feel real confident that this is a priority for her."
Barack Obama - Nov. 6, 2007
This is a sign that Obama is in trouble. He is fearmongering on Social Security. Various estimates has Social Security solvent until 2042 or 2052. What Obama isn't going to talk about is raising the age limit or payroll tax increases. Voters don't want to hear that and Obama knows that.
Attacking Clinton on Social Security is horrible campaign strategy. Bush tanked with his privatization plan. The campaign is now running an ad. Obama is already being mocked in the media for his stance.
On This Week with George Stephanopoulos, economist Paul Krugman noted that Social Security is one of the best run government programs and it is not certain if there is a funding problem. Conservative George Will admitted that Obama's Social Security position is political suicide.
It's so ludicrous in ANY discussion of Soc. Sec. that no mention is ever made of the folks who enter the job market to pay in to the system each day. Only mention is made of those who will collect. LOL !!!
ReplyDeleteObama has no substance.
Oh and someone should tell Howard Dean that demaocrats don't believe that Soc. sec. needs fixed. I'm developing a bad vibe for howie due to some mail-outs I received from him. More later. Haven't had much blogging time last couple days ... technical difficulties. LOL.
EXCELLENTE' POST !!!
and THANK YOU.
