Quote of the Day

ESPN columnist Jerry Crasnick points out an old quote by former Texas Rangers owner George W. Bush.

"I made my arguments and went down in flames. History will prove me right." -- Texas Rangers owner George W. Bush after voting against realignment and a new wild-card system during a Major League Baseball owners meeting in September 1993. Bush was the lone dissenter in a 27-1 vote.

Major League baseball draws increased TV and attendance revenue from more playoff games. Kevin Drum pointed out that CEO Bush keeps relying on horrible cabinet members and aides because he is too incompetent to know a good policymaker if one bit him in the ass. Bush doesn't read government studies or other documents. He disspells that as nonsense. That really is just defensive posturing for someone who doesn't understand wonkery.

Bottom line: If CEO Bush got his way, Major League Baseball would be making less money. How's that for a sharp business mind?
