Newt Might Run
Newt Gingrich told Fox News's Chris wallace that if he can raise $30 million in 3 weeks he will run for President.
“I think the odds are very high, if we ended up with that level of pledges - I don’t see, as a citizen, how you could turn that down,” Gingrich said on Fox News Sunday.
“So you’d run?” host Chris Wallace asked.
“I think you’d be compelled to,” Gingrich said.
Newt has become the savior for many conservatives. Newt was forced out of Congress by Republicans and had a sexual relationship with someone who was not is wife. Those two items should kill him with the party establishment and social conservatives. Why conservatives still love Newt is because he relentlessly bashed Bill Clinton. Hatred for Clinton trumps all other considerations.

The question now is not whether Newt could win the nomination, but if he's throwing his hat in too late. So it'll be interesting... Personally, since seeing the rousing reception Newt got at CPAC (the only person who got more applause was -- you guessed it -- Ann Coulter), I've been convinced that the nomination is his if he chose to run. As for his marriage infidelity, it might piss off some social conservatives, but... These people are the biggest fucking hypocrites. I can see Rudy not passing their morals test because he's from New York, but Newt is a good ole boy from the South... He's the one who authored the Contract for America, he's the one who had Clinton impeached. Those events are more noteworthy.
And let's not forget how weak Newt's competition is.
I've been hoping for this moment, because I do think if Newt runs then he'll win the nomination -- and get absolutely fucking crushed in the general election. But I'm surprised that he's running now... At this point, I thought Newt was out of it all together. It seems rather late to join. So, like I said before, this is going to be very interesting.
