although i hate the word, she's on a very, very short list of performers i would use the term "authentic" to describe. you can see it and hear it and feel it happening, right there, when she performs. it's not some sort of circus act. in over 30 years of being a performer i have maybe, at my best, got about half way to what she accomplishes, connecting the "inside" to the "outside".

ReplyDeleteCan't say she does it for me. "Authentic" is definitely not the word I would use for those hand gestures. "Pretentious" is more what comes to mind.
