Ryan Keith Skipper Update

The two men charged with the stabbing of Ryan Keith Skipper are facing the death penalty.

A grand jury has handed down first-degree murder and robbery with a deadly weapon indictments against Joseph Eli Bearden, 21, and William David Brown Jr., 20.

Bearden and Brown have been held without bail wince their arrest on March 16.

The Sheriff’s Office has described Skipper’s killing as a hate crime because Skipper was gay and the prosecutor said he expects to argue for the maximum sentence.

Police believe Skipper went out that night to cruise for other men. Skipper was killed in his own car. Bearden and Brown dumped the body on the side of the road. They attempted to later clean the interior of the automobile. I'm wondering if Skipper knew the men.

He apparently found Bearden walking along a local street and offered him a ride. The men went to Skipper's home, smoked marijuana and used Skipper's lap top computer.

Later they left the house and met up with Brown.

That doesn't sound like a gay hookup. Skipper was comfortable enough to allow Bearden in his home. There is nothing in the article about them having sex. Why then leave the house to meet Brown?

There is a saying about most homosides are committed by someone they know. I'm wondering if that is the case here.

  1. I don't support the death penalty --- but I'm still glad to read about this.
Unreal, be in a person's house one minute and stabbing them the next. WTF is up with these crazy SOB's???
I don't like to think about this but that's true of so much of the world, right now.
    Thanks Michael for showing this.

  2. from what I read.. don't remember where.. The bad guys did know Ryan. They had been to his place before. Kind of casual aquaintences of room mates, if i recall correctly.

  3. Bearden absolutely DID know Ryan - he came around the house constantly, and was pretty much stalking him. Knowing Ryan on a personal level as I did, I can tell you that it was not out of character at all for him to be more than willing to help out someone he knew no matter what it was - even if it was just a ride to the store, which is what Bearden asked for. Ryan did not smoke marijuana, and had not done drugs in years. He didn't even own a laptop. They did NOT return to his house that night, because one of his roommates was awake and she knows they did not return. The whole story put out there by the murderers is ridiculous, and it's good to see that other people realize it.
