Buzz had some of the same questions as our commenters about the arrangements for FAMU's marching band to come to Barack Obama's fundraiser/rally in Tampa Sunday. First a local organizer insisted that the campaign would not pay a dime for the band, and later clarified that some unidentified big donors to Florida A&M had made it possible. Hmmm. We checked with FAMU, who said the band's appearance was not yet confirmed and approved by the administration, and with Obama's national HQ. Communications director Bill Burton now tells us that the campaign will be paying for the marching band's travel expenses.
This coming from the same newspaper that sat on the Mark Foley page story. The Times political reporters really have a nose for hard-hitting news. I anxiously await a 2,000 word article on a boy selling lemonade in front of a Christopher Dodd fundraiser.
