Anthony Weiner In the House

Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-NY) tears the Republican Party to sheds over starting the noncontroversy over Speaker Nancy Pelosi's travel arrangements. Former Speaker Dennis Hastert was allowed military transport. Pelosi should be, too. A Republican tried to use global warning as a reason that Pelosi shouldn't have a military plane. I don't remember Republicans making the same complaint under Hastert.

Pelosi is the second in line to become President. It's a security risk to have her waiting in airports. Come on conservatives, aren't you serious about national security? You really want one of the most important people in the federal government to become an easy target for Al Qaeda? If the answer is yes then you really should seek anger management counciling and listen to less talk radio.

I do take exception with Weiner using the term "Republic Party." It's cheesy and the same nasty tactic that Joseph McCarthy and George W. Bush used.

Update: Scott Lemieux breaks down how the nonsense about Pelosi making extra demands for her plane was starting by a Washington Times article and spread by Glenn Reynolds.

The concern has not been that Pelosi wants a military plane. I don't think anyone would care if she requested the same plane Hastert had, but she's not. She's requesting a much bigger, much more luxurious, much more expensive plane.

Josh, the only thing I heard is she wants the plane refueled inflight. There has been nothing official about "more luxurious." This is just nonsense to send media attention away from the surge debate.
