:: Wendy Paris is a flat-chested idiot ::

ARGGGHHHH!!!

I just finished reading an article at Salon Magazine written by Wendy Paris entitled "Big Breasts for Dummies." Three pages long. She could have stopped at the second paragraph and the hundred comments or so would have been the same. But, then she ended her three page monologue ever more insulting along the way, with this:

...all at once those DDDD models seemed harmless -- not the signal of our civilization's decline, but just a bunch of dummies.

This article, by a woman, about women and how they are perceived (skinny androgyny) truly pissed me off - so does the fashion industry for that matter. And, she insults the intelligence of large-breasted women everywhere. Fuck you, Wendy. What the hell is your problem?

MannequinStore.com is doing us all a favor. I have no idea where she got her facts about women's bra sizes being an average of 34B, but that is bullshit. That was a training bra for me in 6th grade. I don't even know anyone with a bust that small. I don't know an adult woman below a 36C. Wait....yes I do. My 75-year old aunt who weighs 90 pounds wet, with steel-toed boots on.

I have a substantial bust myself and it isn't due to gel packs or surgery. They were completely genetic and home grown. I've had this abundance since I was 18. I would have commented at Salon except for the fact that most all the comments relayed my own feelings on the subject. For once, I would like to see a model or a mannequin with a real figure, with real proportions. The fact that they are making mannequins with a large bust is a good thing for once. Now give them some hips for crying out loud and a frame to fit those breasts. The trend toward emaciation and androgyny went to far when the mannequins could just as easily have been the figure of a male.

I don't get it. They make push up bras for people like Wendy, so there is an appearance of more breast than what is there is reality. But, large breasts some how are bizarre to her or not of the norm. Sheesh. What are you, in the 7th grade locker room making fun of other girls because they actually have a figure? It's people like you, that give women built like me, body image issues their whole life. Back off, bitch. Or, go find a surgeon.

Sort of the same subject: LMAO!!!

When I first reported on Ronald Dotson, the Detroit man with a decade-long history of smashing windows to indulge his fetish for female mannequins, it seemed more humorous than harmful. Here was a guy whose love for wooden dolls was so powerful he'd been convicted six times since 1993 for breaking and entering stores. Then, in October, less than a week after being released from jail, he got caught again -- this time attempting to break into a cleaning supply store, drawn in by the siren-like call of a mannequin dressed in a French maid uniform.

Clearly, Dotson has issues. Originally, he had been ordered to undergo psychiatric evaluation, but beyond destruction of property, these collective crimes appear to be victimless. However, after his latest attempt at breaking and entering, prosecutors decided to charge him as a habitual offender. Now, the 39-year-old could get life in prison for essentially attempting to woo an inanimate object dressed as a maid. Though window display owners may sleep better knowing Dotson is behind bars, is locking up such a non-violent offender really the most effective solution? Perhaps if he was given a chance to work closely with the mannequins he so adores, everybody might be better off? Best of all mannequins, can't sue for sexual harassment.

  1. I still say Ann Althouse is worse than Wendy Paris.

  2. They are both equally clueless. It drives me ape-shit crazy to be anywhere in the same vicinity as these women.

  3. Ofcourse, on my site, I was bombasted for being overly sensitive and childish for my response. There was zero support from this woman for any other point of view. She just didn't get it.

  4. There is no way that the average bra size is a 34 B! And having a D cup (purely natural, I might add) must mean I'm a complete moron, eh?

  5. You know, there are all shapes and sizes of women in this world, and to be upset about the assumption of large breasted women being less than intelligent is understandable. But... to criticize those women who are not as well endowed as you (and apparently every other adult woman you know) for being less than a "real woman" is just as deplorable. Open up your eyes a bit. It takes all kinds. We are all "real women".

  6. I agree with Luna; what the hell is a "real figure" or "real proportions"? I thought the point was that as long as we're healthy, we're beautiful. I eat normally and am 5'6", 34A cup, and 116 pounds. I'm also a real woman.

  7. I'm 5'7" tall, 115 pounds, and wear a 32C (which is the functional equivalent of a 34B). I can attest to the fact that I am a real woman. (really depressed about being so ****ing flat!!!) If I had huge boobs and were stupid (not that the two necessarily go together), it would be a vacation compared to the flat-chested hell that I live in now.

  8. "Dummy" is a word used to describe a dress-maker's plastic or cloth model. It's not my word, and it doesn't apply to intelligence. It means a plastic or fiberglass or cloth clothes model.

This article was not about large-breasted women, or even large-breasted models, as I'm sure you realized upon closer reading. This was a piece about plastic clothes models shaped like women with breast augmentation surgery, not like large-breasted women.

Also, you should know that it takes a journalist a few months to gather all the information for a piece a like this. It's a great deal of work. And I think it's inconsiderate and harmful to shoot out a personal attack that takes you three seconds to write but that is archived on the net for life, based on a misunderstanding of an article that a person spent a great deal of time researching. This kind of over-reaction is harmful to other women, coming from someone claiming to care about other women and their role in the world.
