More New York Times Op-ed Silliness

I don't have New York Times Select (or plan on getting it.) I have often read the Times and wonder how these columnists can have such a disconnect with reality. Kevin Drum has a paragraph from Nick Kristof's latest opus:

Now that the Christian Right has largely retreated from the culture wars, let’s hope that the Atheist Left doesn’t revive them. We’ve suffered enough from religious intolerance that the last thing the world needs is irreligious intolerance.

Is Kristof serious? In Florida, David Caton is going on his latest gay bashing crusade. Pat Robertson recently said that non-Christians worship demons.

“When you see L-O-R-D in caps, that is the name. It’s not Allah, it’s not Brahma, it’s not Shiva, it’s not Vishnu, it’s not Buddha. It is Jehovah God. They don’t have a relationship with him. He is the God of all Gods. These others are mostly demonic powers. Sure they’re demons. There are many demons in the world.”

This coming from a man who used a charity for self-profit. I would harly say that the Christian Right has mellowed.
