Goodbye Luci Hadi

There is no agancy in Florida as fucked up as the Florida Department of Children & Families. DCF Secretary Luci Hadi went against DCF policy and the law by not allowing LG to have an abotion. The girl was later allowed to have the medical precedure. Hadi was not acting in LG's personal interest since the girl wanted the abortion.

"Why can't I make my own decision?"

That was the blunt question to a judge from a pregnant 13-year-old girl ensnared in a Palm Beach County court fight over whether she can have an abortion.

"I don't know," Circuit Judge Ronald Alvarez replied, according to a recording of the closed hearing obtained Friday.

"You don't know?" replied the girl, who is a ward of the state. "Aren't you the judge?"

Hadi has violated the law again.

A week after being charged with contempt of court, Florida Department of Children & Families chief Lucy Hadi was fined $80,000 for failing to remove mentally ill inmates from the Pinellas County jail.

State Circuit Judge Crockett Farnell imposed the sanction against Hadi on Thursday during a hearing on the status of seven inmates found incompetent months ago but only recently moved to mental health facilities.

The fine is in addition to the criminal contempt charges Hadi already faces for keeping severely mentally ill inmates in jail -- rather than in a state hospital -- longer than Florida law allows.

Jeb Bush described Judge Farnell's ruling as a "temper tantrum." Bush never even considered jailing people who aren't criminals is wrong.

Gov. Jeb Bush and his staff have lashed back at such criticism -- even calling Farnell's threat to jail Hadi a ''temper tantrum'' in a comment to the St. Petersburg Times.

''It's unfortunate that Mr. Dillinger does not understand the budget process,'' Bush spokeswoman Alia Faraj said Friday.

What part of not budgeting enough money to put people in proper mental health facilties does does Dillinger not understand. Governor, do you understand that a public defender beat the state and forced an agency head to resign?
