The Angry Democrats Talking Points Part 2

Remember this nugget from the State of Sunshine blog.

But we would go further than that -- especially here in Florida. When we hear a Democratic candidate for office speak, it's much less the friendly, funny sitcom. To us, a Billy Joel song comes to mind: Angry Young Man:

The question is which party is really the angry one.

Tensions erupted at a political forum in Citrus County on Thursday night when U.S. Rep. Ginny Brown-Waite supporters heckled and mocked Democratic challenger John Russell, who bellowed back at them.

"Coward," "communist" and "murderer" were among the words hurled at Russell. One member of the Citrus Republican Executive Committee became so unruly that concerned bystanders called the Sheriff's Office, which dispatched a deputy.

"I'll thank you very much for maintaining propriety," Russell said, drawing cheers from fellow Democrats. "Let's act like adults."

John Russell said "thank you" after being called a communist and murderer. Doesn't sound angry to me. Maybe the problem is when Republicans hear "angry Democrat" they see a reflection of their own pent up rage. It sets them off. To paraphrase Elvis Costello, the deep dark truthful mirror can sure be a bitch.

We at State of Sunshine will be the first to admit that there are some real "wack jobs" in both parties. Our post was about the candidates themselves, not the partisan pleebs who "play" in politics.

Fair enough. My point is that the "Democrats are angry" is an easy talking point to shoot down.
