Rod Smith's Sugar Daddy Makes Blunder

The US Sugar-sponsored ad for Rod Smith seems to be backfiring. The ad attacked Jim Davis for voting against paying compensation to the wrongfully convicted Freddie Pitts and Wilbert Lee. Both men are black and spent 9 years on death row. What the ad states is true and Freddie Pitts still has misgivings about Davis's vote. Pitts is more angered about the radio ad using an actor saying quotes he gave. Many are under the impression that Pitts did the radio spot.

"The thing is I'm not that found of either one," Pitts said on Jim DeFede's radio show (audio link).

Democrats should take Rod Smith to task for making race a wedge issue. That doesn't let Jim Davis off the hook. Why did he not want Pitts and Lee to have compensation? It's a fair question.
