Rhode Island Senate Race

Rhode Island is a possible Senate seat for Democrats to pick up.

Sheldon Whitehouse (D) - 46%
Lincoln Chafee (R) - 41%

Chafee may lose the primary to Steve Laffey. Chafee is running a negative ad against his opponent. Laffey will get crushed in a general election matchup against Whitehouse. The Republicans better hope Chafee wins the primary.

  1. There won't be much difference if the Dems pick up that seat.
    Chafee is the quintessential RINO.

True. Conservatives have the same problem withChafee that lefties have with Lieberman. The difference is that Chafee will vote forconservative judges. That's why groups like NARAL are foolish to back him.

  3. Gone, I suppose, are the days when a judge could be confirmed based on judicial ability and temperament instead of politics.

It'll be interesting, within that new framework, to see how Democrats react to the backlash against the recent eminent domain joke of a decision pushed through by the "living Constitution" group.

Perhaps we'll have a new litmus test where a judge must be liberal on the Constitution as a whole, but conservative on government claims on property.

  4. Rest assured, Whitehouse has many an AG skeleton in his closet the GOP will be addressing. He has a primary and the patrician will have to come past a Marine veteran who lives progressive values..
