The mayor would have had veto power over budget and ordinance decisions passed by the Board of County Commissioners, though a supermajority vote could have overridden vetoes.
That wasn't what Stiles was advocating. Stiles wanted the Mayor post to have greater veto powers. What irked me was people supporting the Mayor petition with no idea what a county Mayor would do. This reminds me of people getting behind term limits in the 90's. That didn't solve anything in the Florida legislature. The fact is if you don't like how members of the County Commission are performing then they can actively work to get them out of office. Do not create a figurehead position.
