The Hanging Chad Tree

I have lost track. Correct me if I am wrong, but is this the 26 staffer to quit the Katherine Harris campaign.

Rhyan Metzler, Katherine Harris' political director of three months, left her Senate campaign.

The departure came on Thursday, the same day that Harris held an Orlando campaign rally that was attended by only about 30 to 40 people, none of them the expected elected officials.

Get this. Harris blamed the low turnout on a fallen tree. The woman is insane.

Airport officials later said no tree fell on a hangar and the rally was held in the hangar where it had been scheduled.

Metzler got blamed, and maybe fired, for a tree that never fell. If A Republican hack's candidacy fell in the forest; would anyone hear it?

Update: Proof that the low turnout had nothing to do with a tree.

U.S. Rep. Katherine Harris came to Sen. Bill Nelson's hometown Thursday to try to prove she could unseat him in the fall, but the help she hoped for didn't come.

It was expected to be one of Harris' biggest events leading up to the Republican Senate primary next month, with a host of prominent public officials standing by her side.

But no elected official showed up at Orlando Executive Airport for Harris' fly-in - just 30 to 40 people, in a hangar that could hold hundreds.

Mel Martinez and Tom Feeney were both in town. Martinez's people said a last minute meeting came up. Tom Feeney had an appointment with a dermatologist. The latter is lamer than Martinez's usual lame excuses.
