Immigration Debate Is About Xenophobia

The xenophobia shown by at this Brooksville townhall meeting is saddening.

"Illegals . . . influence federal policy, laws and legislation that undermines our economy, lowers our standards of living and destroys the American dream,"

Another Canadian woman said immigrants "make her blood boil."

These statements were greeted by cheers.

This webpage does a good job dispelling myths about illegal immigrants.

Let's be honest. That vast majority that scream their heads off about immigration are racists. Lou Dobbs and Michelle Malkin have publicly supported the Minutemen.

Lawless, an original member of Chris Simcox's vigilante militia before it became the Minuteman Project in early 2005, detailed 11 suggestions for ways to harass and terrorize undocumented immigrants, including robbery and ''beating up illegals'' as they leave their work place, the report states. Martin, following Lawless' suggestions, posted her e-mail to a number of neo-Nazi bulletin boards.

Lawless suggested stealing money from any undocumented worker walking into a bank or check-cashing location. "Make every illegal alien feel the heat of being a person without status ... I hear the rednecks in the South are beating up illegals as the textile mills have closed. Use your imagination,'' Lawless wrote.

The article also reports that several neo-Nazis are current members of the Minutemen. Do you still think Dobbs and Malkin should be given media access to spout their views?

  1. This isn't about immigrants and no one says it is. This is about illegal immigrants, who didn't wait in line and don't have Visas.

Whatever happened to the common sense notion of having some kind of control on the border?

Do you realize that you are calling everyone who wants any kind of police on the border a racist xenophobe?

Does that really make any sense to you?

Do you simply think there is no value in even having a border checkpoint?

If illegals can enter so easily you better believe all kinds of drugs are to and with drugs always come organized crime.

I like immigrants, lots of my friends are here on Visas, but that doesn't mean that we should leave the border wide open.
