State Senator Gary Siplin Arrested

State Senator Gary Siplin has been charged and arrested for felony and misdemeanor charges.

Siplin is facing two charges, including a felony grand theft charge and a misdemeanor charge for allegedly misusing the services of officers and state employees. The charges stem from allegations of using public employees to work on his private campaign.

"This amounts to grand larceny under the law of Florida," said State Attorney Lawson Lamar. "This case centers on a person in a position of trust utilizing approximately three months of labor funded by taxpayer dollars for his personal campaign in his personal politics."

According to the Orlando Sentinel, Siplin was under investigation for eight months. Sipkin allegedly used "thousands" of taxpayer dollars to pay 3 people to work on his campaign. These three staffers are Naomi Cooper, Sarah Caraballo and Jose Bosque.

This is just stupid.

It also revealed that Siplin had maintained his law office in the same building that he used taxpayer money to rent as a Senate office.

Candidates aren't even allowed to make fundraising phone calls from their elected office. If Siplin used tax money to pay for his rent then he's a goner. Siplin already used his Senate seat to lavish pork on his law firm. Sadly, that kinda stuff no longer shocks the public. The Sentinal also reported that Siplin moved $75,000 into a company that his wife was involved with.

Is it just me or does Siplin's mug shot has that Tom "I have no shame" Delay vibe to it?
