Cutting On Michelle Malkin

Roxanne Cooper is sending out emails to urging bloggers to nominate Michelle Malkin's New Youth Craze: Self-Mutilation for the Koufax Awards for Most Humorous Post. For those not in the know, the Koufax are internet awards for politically left bloggers. Malkin is on the polar end of the spectrum. I'm sure Malkin didn't intend for people to find humor in her op-ed.

Do you remember Refer Madness? There was the scene where a person would take a single puff off a joint and be addicted for life. Lousy propaganda. Great comedy. Malkin states that emo music is "associated with promoting the cutting culture." Ohh! Make sure your kids don't buy a Badly Drawn Boy album. Does emo get a financial cut from the cuts? Malkin should pick an easy target like Marilyn Manson. The guy could use to publicity.

There is more.

It may be all fun and games for a Hollywood starlet like (Christina) Ricci, but her mindless stunts have inspired countless young girls to carve themselves into a bloody stupor. Hollyweird strikes again.

It's a shame that Ricci can't do something more mature. Like go on Hardball and imply that John Kerry intentionally injured himself.

Malkin lists "Razor Blade Kisses" as a site that promotes cutting. If she bothered to read the site, she would have a better understanding of the cause. Hint: it's not Christina Ricci.

It is estimated that one percent of Americans have self-injured in the past or currently self-injure.Self-injurers come any every age, gender and color.A survey done shows that ninty seven percent are female and because of the survey they comiled a "potrait" of the typical self-injurer.She is a female in her 20s and she has been hurting herself since she was a teenager. She is from a background of sexual or physical abuse and/or from a home with atleast one alcoholic parent. There is a theory that more women self-injure than men because women are socialized to internalize emotions and men are to externalize them. But weather they are male or female most self-injurers share common characteristics such as:

*Strong dislike of themself
*Tend to supress anger
*Suffer from chronic anxiety
*Tend not to plan the future
*From a background of sexual or physical abuse
*Suffer from a mental disease like depression

I'm not an expert on cutting. I bet money that teens are more likely to cut because of psychological problems than Angelina Jolie.
