Awake the State

There is an online Facebook movement that started in Rick Scott's rejection of federal high-speed rail funding.

Awake The State

Ethically challenged Senate President Mike Haridopolos (aka "Dirty Hari") is supporting Gov. Scott's reckless decision to reject $2.4 billion in federal high speed rail funding which could cost Florida thousands of jobs. This is another reason why it's time to Awake The State, balance Florida's budget responsibly, and get our state on the right track. Click "like" if you agree and tell your friends about this page.

Details are sketchy and I am not sure who started the Facebook page. You can contact Awake the State at info@awakethestate.com.

Awake the State is a movement to protest cuts to education, firefighters, and police in Florida. Coordinated with many advocacy groups. Info from link explains:

"When the Florida legislature convenes on March 8th, 2011 our state faces a critical choice. Do we continue to cut and harm Florida's children, our police officers and our firefighters, the uninsured, and our natural resources? Or will we finally say enough and close down the unnecessary and unproductive exemptions and loopholes that cost Floridians more than $12 billion a year and balance Florida's budget responsibly?

It's time to Awake The State with local rallies around throughout Florida urging our state legislators to reject budget cuts and invest in Floridians again."

Please do not forget about state employees, especially the low paid ones. I hope this will do some good. I am behind u 100%. I did not vote for king scott. Just in the dept of corrections there could be as many as 10,000 personnel go in the next two years. Scary. I am fighting for our benefits. I have been slapped for sending emails.
