I didn't do anything to the layout. It justs gets buggy sometimes. I don't want to get rid of the layout. It is making me contemplate going to Wordpress.
There are some websites you can goto to download different Blogger layouts -- that's what I did for my site, since the layouts that Blogger provides suck. I have some minimal webhosting for images required for my layout, but I'm able to get that for pennies a month. Thank god for not havving traffic to waste bandwidth!
